How can I help?

Do you know what sort of funeral service you would like for your loved one?  You want to get it right, but may not be sure what choices are available to you.  Looking at the options below may be useful.  Please contact me to talk through what ideas you have so that we can weave them into the perfect ceremony to remember and honour the life lost.

Bespoke Funeral

There are no legalities to follow when planning a funeral, so you can be as creative or as traditional as you like.  You can use a mixture of religious and non-religious music and readings to suit your individual requirements.  One family told me, “Mum wasn’t particularly religious, but she did love ‘Abide with Me’ as it had been sung at her Mother’s funeral, so we would like to include that in the service”.  So whether you like Beethoven, The Beatles or Beyonce, the service will be personalised to suit you.

If you would like to read an extract from a favourite book, want to dress brightly, or in the colours of your loved one’s favourite sports team, then go for it – the choice is yours.

Inclusivity is important to me and I openly welcome people of all faiths or no faith and LGBTQ+ communities.

Celebrations of life

Celebration of Life

Losing a loved one is never easy, but by celebrating their life you can pay tribute to them and their legacy.  I hope that this will be comforting to you and your family, and that you will feel uplifted by sharing joyful moments from their life story with others who knew and loved them too, whilst still being respectful to the sadness of your loss.

You may wish to incorporate candles, butterflies, balloons, floating lanterns or wild seed throwing into your celebration of life, which could take place at a crematorium, a beach, a hillside, a hotel or at home.

Tell me their story - about their unique character, interests, passions and your funny recollections and let me weave these into an uplifting eulogy to honour and celebrate the wonderful life of your loved one.

Woodland Burials

A woodland burial is a sustainable and eco-friendly option for those who would prefer being laid to rest in a more natural way.  Set in tranquil woodland, surrounded by trees, wild flowers and the sound of bird song, the woodlands are managed to encourage the growth of native species of flora and fauna.

You could choose a woodland site for a natural burial or an interment of ashes. Please contact me to discuss the options.

Interment of Ashes

Once a cremation has taken place, which could be with a full funeral service or a direct cremation (without a service), you can choose to inter your loved one’s ashes at a cemetery, where you may have a family plot.  You may also wish to inter ashes at home, in a memorial garden or at a woodland burial site.  Please contact me to discuss these options.

Traditional Funeral

Today, many people prefer a cremation service which enables family and friends to come together in grief and in remembrance of the life lost.  You may choose a traditional service at a crematorium, which may include some religious content (a favourite hymn, song or reading), or a ritual from the funeral traditions of your culture. Alternatively, you may opt for a modern service incorporating your loved one’s favourite music, poems and readings.

We can work together to create the perfect ceremony for your loved one.
